RHIANNON EQUESTRIAN IN-HOUSE CLINIC: RIDE A STRAIGHT TRACK
APRIL 24 & 25
Clinic presented by head trainer Jenn Giacopelli
Rhiannon riders came together for a two-day intensive clinic focusing on improving the horse’s straightness and track both on the flat and over fences!
On the first day students employed several exercises on the flat to better understand how to create a straight horse and track. They learned how to utilize those concepts and skills to encourage their horses to move better under saddle both in and out of the show ring. They then applied those skills over a variety of pole and gymnastic exercises to further develop and improve straightness in their horses, thereby improving their track over fences.
On the second day students participated in a “mock horse show” format. They began with a warm-up on the flat revisiting the material worked on the prior day. They also schooled over several warm-up jumps to prepare their horses for the coursework to follow. Three courses were posted for students to complete, one at a time. Courses were analyzed by Jenn in the group setting so that all participants could learn from each other’s corrections and successes. At the close of the clinic, participants enjoyed a casual outdoor reception (respecting social distancing!).
